At Costco members get good prices, organic produce, and toxic flame retardants

I have a bone to pick with our favorite Pacific Northwest company. Part of the “Costco Code of Ethics” is to “take care of our members.” But it turns out that they aren’t taking care of their members when it comes to toxic chemicals.

Many ways to honor the mothers in our lives.

Last week, members of the Safer Chemicals Healthy Families coalition celebrated the more activist origins of Mothers Day by telling members of Congress that the best gift for moms (and the people who love them) would be to protect our families from toxic chemicals.

Flame Retardants: Invisible and Unwanted Hitchhikers

Several years ago, I was presented with an amazing opportunity to do an extensive research study focusing on how toxic chemicals get out of products in our homes and make their way to our rivers, lakes, and other waters. One of our coalition partners, Columbia Riverkeeper, had made the funding possible so that we could really dig into this question.
