A new study released today by Toxic-Free Future finds toxic chemicals in most products labeled stain- or water-resistant, with 72% testing positive for PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).

TJX announces new restrictions on toxic chemicals as part of new chemicals strategy

Recently, TJX—the parent company of TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Home Goods, and Sierra Trading Post—announced on its website it is developing an expanded “Chemical Management” strategy. The new program, which follows more than three years of advocacy by the Mind the Store campaign, Clean Water Action, Trillium Asset Management, First Affirmative Financial Network, and the Investor Environmental Health Network, takes an important step forward towards protecting customers, workers, and the environment from toxic chemical exposure, and paves the way for future action.

TJX must move away from harmful chemicals, say advocates at annual shareholder meeting

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.— Today, advocates and consumers will attend the TJX annual shareholder meeting to ask the retailer to improve its efforts to tackle toxic chemicals. TJX is the owner of Marshalls, T.J.Maxx, Sierra Trading Post, and Home Goods.
