Fall into Action for Safer Chemicals

Fall into Action for Safer Chemicals by Micaela Preston, Mindful Momma Blogger

As the fall season is settling in, I notice my level of engagement is gearing up: the kids are back in school, I am involved with the PTA and new work opportunities are cropping up. Fall is an energizing time, a time to dive in and get stuff done. A time to take action and get involved in something new.

As a writer and advocate for green and healthy living, being involved in a cause close to my heart is both exciting and empowering. For me it began with simply sharing information that was important to me, before long I became active in my community and eventually turned my passion into a career and a new way of life. My involvement with Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families began with baby steps as well. Once I learned that chemicals found in my home were untested and unregulated, I wanted to spread the word about the importance of changing our country’s out of date laws. I’ve taken that to new levels and have been an integral part of the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families campaign for the past 9 months.

This fall is an especially critical time to draw attention to the Safe Chemicals Act of 2011, a bill that would put commonsense limits on toxic chemicals. With hopes for a vote in Congress, we need to gather as much support as possible to get this important bill passed.

So if you are tired of worrying about toxic chemicals in the products you buy every day, join me, Mindful Momma in taking a pledge to "Fall into Action for Safer Chemicals"!  When you take our Fall in Action for Safer Chemicals pledge, you are committing to keep your family safer from toxic chemicals.

We know how hard it can be to stay on top of the information about chemicals in everyday products. To help make it easier for you to keep your family safe, Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families will offer a "Non-toxic Tip and Action" of the week starting in October. All you have to do is sign our Fall into Action for Safer Chemicals pledge and quick tips and actions will be sent straight to your Inbox. Think of it as a friendly, weekly reminder of your commitment to keep your family safer from toxic chemicals.
