Campaign Releases National Poll, Announces 20 New Coalition Members

PollToday Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families released the findings from a poll that finds Americans are very concerned about exposure to toxic chemicals. Voters want the EPA to be given more power to regulate chemicals.

“The public is aware of the growing body of science linking common chemicals to chronic diseases and they’re waking up to the fact that the existing law isn’t working,” says Andy Igrejas, director of the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families coalition. “Americans are doing their best to shop smart, but we can’t protect our families without help and without strong reforms to put common-sense limits on toxic chemicals.”

Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families also welcomed 20 new coalition members to the campaign: Basel Action Network, Chehalis River Council, Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition, Earth Ministry, Earthology Institute, East Michigan Environmental Action Council, Families Against Cancer & Toxics, healthy-kids.info, Indigenous Environmental Network, Learning Disabilities Association of New York State , Lutheran Public Policy Office of Washington State, Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition, Michigan Environmental Council, Minnesota Association for Children’s Mental Health, Olympic Environmental Council, Seattle Tilth, Take Back the Air, The Arc of Massachusetts, Voices for Earth Justice, Women’s Environmental Institute.
